This cracked me up : http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/15/4625502/microsoft-responds-to-google-youtube-windows-phone-block
So Microsoft are whining that Google won’t tell them how their ad engine works, despite needing to know this so that they can write their own Youtube app (they won’t accept Google’s one, or perhaps Google refused to write one for such a niche platform). Google wrote the Android and iOS version, so this is perhaps the first time this has arisen (not sure if there’s a Blackberry Youtube app?).
Suck it up Microsoft. Now you know how pretty much every other company in the world felt about you when they had to deal with the doc, or xls format. And that’s just one small example of the way Microsoft obfuscated their technology to make competition near-impossible.
Is this… karma? I’d really like it to be karma, but bitter experience has taught me that you tend to have to wait a long, long time for that to work. Still, it’s been about 30 years since Microsoft dropped the doc abomination on us, so you never know.
