Hello! I’m Neil, an ex-network engineer turned data & security specialist, which means that I know TCP\/IP, firewalls, routers and switches, although I’m now more focused on risk and governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since technology is a hobby, I’m a huge FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) advocate. I started with Ubuntu, Firefox and Kodi (or XBMC as it was called back then) but quickly became a full Linux convert, ditching everything to do with Microsoft and Apple since the mid-2010s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve been an on-and-off Ubuntu Forums contributor in those early day, I’ve opened a few bug reports and commented on a few others.\u00a0 I’ve also answered over 150 questions on Ask Ubuntu<\/a>, putting me in their top 100 contributors. I also dabble a bit with Python so that I can scratch a few development itches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m a long-time gamer since the age of 10, having owned most of Sinclair’s computers, an Atari ST, an Amiga, and a long, long list of custom, home-made PCs. I’m an editor and supporter of Gaming on Linux, the place to be for all your gaming news, wrapped up in an amazing community of like-minded Linux supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m Scottish, live in Edinburgh, married, with two children and two little cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
